AFRICA - 24 projects in 14 different countries in Africa funded by Harambee 2002 solidarity initiative started on the occasion of canonisation of Opus Dei founder

Rome (Fides Service) - In Sierra Leone a programme to rehabilitate with school and social re-insertion former child soldiers, in Uganda a library for a school, in Rwanda a farm for families who give a home to orphans. From support for girl university students in Johannesburg (South Africa), to building 4 small technical training schools for school drop-out children in Mozambique. A programme to improve water access for schools, women and children, programme to improve sanitary conditions of at least 281,000 people and 44,000 families in Enugu State, Nigeria.
These are only a few of the 24 projects funded by solidarity Harambee 2002 in 14 African countries. Harambee 2002 is a solidarity initiative started on the occasion of canonisation of Opus Dei founder
During a Harambee charity evening four other projects for 2006 for the promotion of women were presented. Seeing the good results in these four years, Harambee hopes to invest one million dollars for a programme for technical training for women and young people who fled civil war in southern Sudan which isolated their region for years; for a programme to train primary and secondary school teachers in Kenya; technical training for craftsmen and assist their families in Madagascar and healthcare for women and children in rural outskirts of Kinshasa in DR Congo.
