AFRICA - A dream for Africa: Children without AIDS . International Meeting in Rome

Rome (Fides Service) - 13 million AIDS orphans and almost 30 million adults infected with HIV/AIDS are a daily test of hope for the life and future of a whole continent.
DREAM, one of the most effective international programmes to treat AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa with innovative experience and all the principle subjects active today in the great African continent, (from governments of affected countries, to European and world governments and institutions, from the World Bank to the World Health organisation), will be at the centre of a meeting in Rome on 19 May and which will offer innovative proposals and news for the treatment of AIDS on the African continent, with special attention for children.
Started four years ago DREAM (Drug Resource Enhancement against AIDS and Malnutrition) is committed to the global fight against AIDS (education, prevention treatment), Malaria, Malnutrition, TB and the main common illnesses. Mozambique became the first place of the realisation for what today is becoming a pan-African proposal and model of great therapeutic impact, exemplary for light structures, formation capacity of new socio-health cadres and for economic sustainability. Today Malawi, Guinea Conakry, Guinea Bissau, Tanzania, Kenya, Congo and Nigeria have opened DREAM centres making it a practicable path in the rest of the continent.
The main actors of this Programme, together with international experts will meet to illustrate results reached so far and to plan together a dream for Africa: “Children without AIDS”.
Also present at the meeting numerous health ministers or their representative of various sub-Saharan Africa (Angola, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea Conakry, Guinea Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Central African Republic, Democratic Congo, Tanzania, Zambia), to dsicuss results and examine the possibility of starting in their own countries.
