Santiago (Fides Service) - Missiology Today is the title of a series of meetings starting on Saturday 13 May organised by the national office for the Pontifical Missionary Union in Chile and the Society of the Missionaries of St Columban (SSC). The organisers hope the meetings will help people discover and reflect on various aspects of missionary activity in our times and identify ways in which we must give as Church. The participants, priests, consecrated persons and professionals with theological formation, through conferences, workshops and seminars will reflect on the missionary reality and situation of the Church today.
The themes for reflection are the following: “Mission and Social Justice” (Mgr. Alfonso Baeza, 13 May); “Mission and Ecology” (P. Derry Healy, SSC, 27 May); “Mission and Laity” (Dr. Juan Noemi, 24 June); “Mission and Dialogue inter-religious” (Dr. Antonio Bentue, 26 August); “Mission and Ecumenism” (Fr. Roberto Mosher, SSC, 30 September); “The missionary practice of St Francis Xavier ” (Fr. Jorge Patricio Vega, SVD, national director of the PMS in Chile, 21 October): “Mission and native peoples” (Fr.Fernando Díaz, SVD, 25 November). (RG) (Agenzia Fides 12/5/2006; righe 13, parole 178)
