VATICAN - Appointment of Secretary of the Dicastery for Evangelization, Section for the first evangelization and the new particular Churches

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has appointed His Excellency Monsignor Fortunatus Nwachukwu, Titular Archbishop of Acquaviva, Apostolic Nuncio, currently Holy See’s Permanent Observer to the United Nations and Specialized Institutions in Geneva and to the World Trade Organization (WTO), and Representative of the Holy See to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), as the new Secretary of the Dicastery for Evangelization, as part of the Section for First Evangelization and the New Particular Churches.
Monsignor Fortunatus Nwachukwu was born on 10 May 1960, in Nigeria. He was ordained a priest on 17 June 1984, and consecrated Bishop on 6 January 2013. He holds a degree in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute, a doctorate in dogmatic theology from the Pontifical Urbaniana University and a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical Saint Thomas Aquinas University. He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1994, two years after completing his studies at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy. (Agenzia Fides, 15/3/2023)
