ASIA/INDIA - New Rector for St John’s Regional Seminary archdiocese of Hyderabad

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, on 17 March 2006 appointed rector of St John’s regional Seminary for Theology in the archdiocese of Hyderabad, (India), Rev. Gandhipalli Jayaraj of the diocesan clergy of Visakhapatnam.
Rev. Gandhipalli Jayaraj was born on 24 January 1956 and ordained a priest in 24 April 1984. He then ministered in various parishes and at St Ann’s Minor Seminary. In 1992 he studied for a diploma in Catechetics in Bangalore, and in 1998 obtained a Licentiate in the same subject at the Catholic Institute Paris. Between 1999 and 2002 he was director of the Diocesan Pastoral Centre for Youth and Vocations. Since 2003 he has been bursar and professor of catechetics at St. John’s Regional Seminary in Hyderabad.
