AMERICA/ECUADOR - Nuevo Trigo singers compose songs to stir and strengthen mission spirit among children

Thursday, 11 May 2006

Quito (Fides Service) - For ten years the Nuevo Trigo musical group (New Seed), has composed and distributed religious music for the missionary animation and formation of boys and girls and adolescents all over Latin America. Last year the group produced CD "Friends Forever", with twelve songs for Holy Childhood which was a great success all over the continent, as national secretary of the Pontifical Society St Peter Apostle in Ecuador Osvaldo Fierro reports. This year the group has presented two new CDs. The first “I Want to be a Missionary”, produced with the support of the national office for Holy Childhood and the Pontifical Mission Societies Ecuador, consists of 12 songs focussing on 12 missionary themes in line with the work of Holy Childhood in Latin America. The second CD “Mary, Gospel of Love” released for the month of May, consists of 14 songs dedicated to Mary, Mother of God and Our Mother in a missionary key with words and music of Juan Morales Montero, Ecuadorian singer/composer who has written over 100 songs to announce the Good News to all people. The new work "Mary, Gospel of Love" is a call to Catholics in Ecuador to intensify missionary commitment and discover in Mary the face of mission. Moreover the authors hope it will help the Church in Ecuador and the Church in Latin America discover Mary as the first missionary given to us by God and who leads us too to be missionaries.
