Abuja (Agenzia Fides) - Father Michael Olubunimi Olofinlade, a Nigerian priest kidnapped on Saturday January 14 by unidentified gunmen in the state of Ekiti, in southwestern Nigeria, is free (see Fides, 16/1/2023).
Father Olofinlade was released by his captors late yesterday evening, January 17. The circumstances of his release are unclear at this time, but it has been reported that the priest has been admitted to a hospital in Ekiti. The police made no statement regarding his release and possible ransom payment.
Father Olafinlade, parish priest at St George's Catholic Church, Omu Ekiti, in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State, was abducted while returning to his parish in Omu Ekiti after a pastoral mission in the capital of Ado State. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides, 18/1/2023)
