EUROPE/ITALY - Life in Africa narrated in a special meeting with Pope Francis

Friday, 18 November 2022

Rome (Agenzia Fides) - Stories of commitment and fatigue, results of a year of work "with" Africa, future challenges and at the same time hidden and distant dramas that are unknown and that are caused by the serious world crisis in which we find ourselves. These will be the themes at the center of the Annual Meeting of Doctors with Africa Cuamm, which this year will have an extraordinary moment: the inauguration will be a special audience with Pope Francis in the Vatican on Saturday, November 19, 2022.
Today, Friday, November 18, at 6:00 p.m., in Saint Peter's Basilica, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle will preside over the Holy Mass to welcome the CUAMM family, who have come from all the regions of Italy to be with Africa for everyone's health.
"Africa is not just a misfortune that happens close to home", as Don Dante Carraro, director of the Paduan NGO, often emphasizes. "Africa is much more, it is a great meaning of life, despite everything. We have a lot to learn from the peoples of this continent, looking at the good that is being built every day. Climate change; drought; Covid-19; and now the war in Ukraine. These are problems that affect our daily life and that in Africa have devastating effects, effects that no one talks about and about which Doctors with Africa CUAMM wants to draw everyone's attention, as well as recounting and offering them to the Holy Father, who with his words and their example can be a guide and a point of reference to continue on the path of care and help to the poorest and most fragile".
After the special audience with Pope Francis, the Annual Meeting will start with a talk by Don Dante and many other guests and friends who will recount the commitment of the last year. (Agenzia Fides, 18/11/2022)
