AMERICA/PERU - "For a human network of responses and help”: first meeting of RIIAL-Peru, to help the members of the Church use the computer in their pastoral activity

Lima (Fides Agency) - From May 9 to 13, the Computer Network of the Church in Latin-America in Peru (RIIAL-Peru), will hold its first seminar with the slogan “For a human network of responses and help”. The main objective of the meeting is to prepare the personnel of the Bishops’ Conference of Peru, the Pastoral Agents of the 45 Ecclesial districts and other realities of the local Church to use the computer in their pastoral activities. The Bishop’s Conference of Italy, the Pontifical Council for Social Communications and the Council of the Bishops’ Conferences of Latin-America (CELAM) collaborated in the organisation of the event.
The meeting will begin on Tuesday, May 9th, with a Holy Mass in the headquarters of the Bishops’ Conference, presided over by Msgr Ricardo Garcia Mirando, Auxiliary Bishop of Ayacucho. Then the Message sent to the participants by the Pontifical Council for Social Communications will be read to the all those taking part in the seminar. One of the main topics of the meeting will concern “Computer equipment to take part in the fifth General Conference of the Bishops’ of Latin-America”. This topic will illustrate to the participants the strategies and methods used by the Latin-American Bishops’ Council (CELAM) to prepare the study of the Document and the Working Sheets, besides methods for the dispatching of the equipment for this continental meeting. Other topics will concern the work of the RIIAL and the services it offers, the presentation of Church “Office” (for the administration of dioceses and parishes), the creation of Church Webpages and the production of Catholic contents for the Internet.
