Caracas (Agenzia Fides) - A very ordinary but at the same time very extraordinary story is told by the video published by the National Direction of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Venezuela on World Mission Sunday, about 8-year-old Santiago. Santiago prepares his backpack to go to school, among the books there is one that fascinates him, that captivates him. It's about the world, of the missionaries who set out and go to the ends of the earth: Mozambique, China, Amazonia ... He reads, identifies himself and begins to approach an adventurous reality, which he too would like to experience. To go to the ends of the earth to bring the love of Jesus to people. "When you are grown up", says his mother, who already sees an extraordinary interest growing in her son. His parents support him in his vocation. In the final scene, he is seen packing a suitcase, hugging his father and mother, and leaving.
The short film then explains what the Pontifical Mission Societies are doing to support missionaries in preaching the Gospel throughout the world. Inspired by the theme of World Mission Day, witnessing, and immersed in the everyday events of a family living the faith in a simple context, the short film aims to illustrate the history of the mission of the Pontifical Mission Societies.
Produced in collaboration with the National Direction of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the USA, the video was conceived by Édgar Márquez and Mary Villegas and the screenplay by Jorge Gómez and R.R. di Sousa. (EG) (Agenzia Fides, 17/9/2022)
