Rome (Fides Service) - Some 270 young people involved in missionary activity and animation have gathered for the National Missionary Youth Meeting organised by the Pontifical Mission Societies which opens today 28 April at Pacognano in Naples. Participants are young people who have been on mission or are members of mission groups or students of missiology, members of diocesan or parish mission groups, or missionary associations or bodies, in line with the Church in Italy which, from the National Mission Congress held in Montesilvano indicates a path of communion and co-responsibility for missionary activity. The title of the Meeting “Witnesses of Hope in the World” is in line with the theme of the 4th National Church Conference to be held later this year in Verona 16 - 20 October: Hope in fact is the virtue around which the three day Meeting will rotate. There will be testimonials from witness of hope in the Church and in the world, workshops for discussion, time for personal reflection and community prayer. (S.L.)
