AMERICA/PERU - First Regional Meeting to intensify evangelisation among communities in the interior called by the Bishops’ Commission for Catechesis, Biblical and Indigenous Pastoral

San Ramon (Fides Service) - To intensify evangelisation and spread of the Word of God among communities in the interior of Peru, the Peruvian Bishops’ Commission for Catechesis, Biblical and Indigenous Pastoral organised a First Regional Meeting 2006 Central Sierra, Zone. This first meeting, taking place 26 to 29 April in the Apostolic Vicariate of San Ramón, is attended by Bishops, co-ordinators of Catechesis, Biblical and Indigenous Pastoral in the dioceses of this region: Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Huancayo, Huánuco, Tarma and San Ramón. The purpose of the meeting is to propose the study of the Gospel of St Mark this year and highlight the themes of announcing Christ (Kerygma) and Christian Initiation in the process of evangelisation. The meeting also intends to continue animation and intensification of indigenous pastoral in communities in Peru’s mountain and forest areas. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 28/4/2006; righe 12, parole 153)
