AFRICA/TANZANIA - Appointment of the Bishop of Kahama

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Francis has appointed Rev. Christopher Ndizeye Nkoronko, of the clergy of the Diocese of Kigoma, currently Vicar General and Secretary General of the Pastoral Department, as Bishop of the Diocese of Kahama (Tanzania). His Exc. Msgr. Christopher Ndizeye Nkoronko was born on March 25, 1970 in Kalinzi, Diocese of Kigoma.
He attended secondary school at Katoke Minor Seminary (1986-1993).
After the prepaedeutic year at Ujiji Minor Seminary (1993-1994), he studied philosophy at the Kibosho Major Seminary in Moshi (1994-1996) and Theology at the Serengea Major Seminary (1996-1999). He served at Ujiji Minor Seminary for one year (1999-2000). He was ordained a priest on July 5, 2001.
Since his ordination he has held the following positions: Parish Assistant at Kasulu Parish (2001-2004); Teacher and formator at St. Paul Senior Seminary in Kipalapala (2004-2005); Student of Moral Theology at the Studio Teologico San Paolo in Catania (Italy), where he obtained his licentiate (2005-2008); Collaborator at the Parish of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament (2005-2006) and Assistant at the B.V.M. Assunta Parish in Catania (2006-2008); Teacher and formator at St. Paul Senior Seminary in Kipalapala (2008-2011); Director of the Diocesan Apostolate for the Laity (2011-2012); Pariah priest of Kibondo Parish (2011-2016); Dean of Kibondo, President of the Diocesan Union of Priests (UMAWATA) and Deputy Director of the Diocesan Apostolate for the Laity (2012-2016); Undersecretary of the national UMAWATA (2015-2016); Parish priest of the Cathedral Church (2016-2019). Since 2011 he has been Diocesan Coordinator of the Tanzania Family Strengthening Program and Courses (UFATA) and Diocesan Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies; since 2016 Vicar General of the Diocese of Kigoma and since 2019 Secretary General of the Pastoral Department.
