Brasilia (Agenzia Fides) - The Catholic Church in Brazil will celebrate the 37th "Week of Migrants" from June 12th to 19th. Bishop of the Diocese of Pesqueira and President of the Pastoral Service for Migrants (SPM), stressing that the theme of this year's Week reaffirms the importance of listening as a pastoral method, as has already been the case with the annual Campaign of Fraternity of the Brazilian Bishops' Conference. Working materials for the preparation and celebration of the Week include a basic text that addresses the theme of listening as a way of liberating pastoral action, emphasizing that wisdom comes from listening and that the power of words is legitimate only when they are accompanied by practical action. "People's life stories, dreams and their struggles help us to see that the phenomenon of migration is also due to the social exclusion, lack of prospects and misery of the many caused by the accumulation and wealth of the few", it says in the text. The program offered by the organizers of the Week includes two meetings to exchange experiences on the themes of the week and an ecumenical celebration, guided by the objectives of the week, knowledge sharing, interaction and meeting of cultures for a common experience to strengthen the common good.
