San Josè (Agenzia Fides) - The Episcopal Conference of Costa Rica, in coordination with the National Commission for Family Pastoral Care, has announced the celebration of the "National Week of the Family", which will be held from June 19 to 26. National, diocesan and parish activities will be proposed for this week, according to the directives of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life. As the Bishops recall in their message sent to priests, men and women religious and lay people throughout the Ecclesiastical Province of Costa Rica, the 10th World Meeting of the Family will be celebrated in Rome from June 22 to 26. "Due to the exceptional circumstances caused by the pandemic - they continue - the Holy Father requested that the meeting be held in each province or ecclesiastical diocese, in an unprecedented and multicentric way, in order to involve the greatest possible number of families around the world". Thus, in each country there will be a local meeting center for families and communities, allowing everyone to feel like a protagonist of this important ecclesial event". Following the appeal of Pope Francis, the Bishops have drawn up a program for this National Week, which will open in each parish on Sunday, June 19, on the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of the Lord. Priests are invited to illustrate the link between the Eucharist, marriage and family, and to pray for the success of the World Meeting. "If possible, in the Corpus Domini procession, the altars that are traditionally built along the route will be used to pray for the different situations families are experiencing today." In the following days, there will be 3 meetings at the national level using the Zoom platform, and 2 celebrations in presence in the parishes (Rosary of the spouses, Hour of adoration for families). On Saturday 25, each diocese will organize a gathering and a festive activity to involve as many families as possible, such as a walk, a conviviality, a concert for families, etc. Sunday, June 26 will mark the closing of the Week, with Mass and the sending of the families presided over by the Bishop of each diocese and in its Cathedral.
