Lira (Agenzia Fides) - "Working to generate peace, respect for fundamental human rights and the dignity of everyone in every situation, are elements that require active participation of all political, civil and cultural leaders, including all those responsible in the communities". This is what Msgr. Luigi Bianco, Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda said during his recent pastoral visit to the Diocese of Lira.
Addressing the people of Lango, the Nuncio asked to be ambassadors of peace in their communities. On the occasion of his first visit to the Catholic parish of St. Francis Xavier, where priests, religious and Christians of the two decanates of Aloi and Dokolo joined in the Eucharistic celebration, the Nuncio noted that it is the duty of every person to ensure that there is peace in their localities in an attempt to live harmoniously.
"To achieve lasting peace, leaders should encourage and motivate people to strive to live in union by embracing the spirit of dialogue, reconciliation and friendly listening", said Msgr. Bianco who is titular Archbishop of Falerone.
In the meeting which had the theme 'Peace be with you', the Nuncio prayed not only to support peace in families, but also "for peace and forgiveness at all levels of society in order to create paths for positive growth and transformation of people". (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 30/5/2022)
