Managua (Agenzia Fides) - "Faithful to the mandate of the Lord and faithful to its vocation, the Church will continue to proclaim the Gospel, denouncing the social structures of sin, accompanying the people, especially the poor and the weak": reiterates the "Justice and Peace" Commission of the Archdiocese of Managua in a message also sent to Fides. The text reminds us that "the mission of the Church will always provoke contradictions in this world, where alongside the light there is also the darkness of evil". Then it quotes the Gospel passage in which Jesus assures: "there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel, who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come" (Mk 10, 29-30).
The Justice and Peace Commission continues: "We are concerned about the situation in the country we love as children of God, as Nicaraguans and as Christians. We join in prayer so that God may transform hard hearts into sensitive hearts with love for one’s neighbor, free from feelings that prevent normality that leads to authentic social peace. May love, forgiveness and mercy prevail in all in the search for the common good by putting into practice Christian principles". In the message, sent "to the holy people of God and to people of good will", it is recalled that the Church founded by Jesus Christ is "the holy, universal and eternal community" of which lay people, religious, deacons, priests and bishops belong. The Church is always present in our joys and also in our sufferings, "her strength is not in human power, which is temporal, nor in material goods, which are ephemeral, but in the power of God who gives us the Holy Spirit".
