Brasilia (Agenzia Fides) - For the third consecutive year, Pascom Brasil (Pastoral Care of Communication-Brazil) will celebrate the Week of Communication, in preparation for the 56th World Day of Social Communications, (Sunday May 29, solemnity of the Ascension). This year, other sectors of the Brazilian Church will also participate in the initiative. The activities will take place on May 23 and 26, broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Brazilian Episcopal Conference (CNBB). On Sunday, May 29, some Catholic television channels will broadcast two Eucharistic celebrations.
According to the note sent to Fides, the first activity will take place on May 23, starting at 7:30 p.m., with a "Prayer reading of the Word of God" on the biblical text of Mark 12, 28-34. The second activity will take place on May 26, also starting at 7:30 p.m., and will include an in-depth study of Pope Francis' Message for the 56th World Communications Day, entitled "Listening with the ear of the heart".
On the Sunday of the Ascension of the Lord, two Eucharistic celebrations will be broadcast from the Sanctuary of the Basilica of Our Lady of Mercy in Caeté. The first, at 8 in the morning, will be presided over by the Archbishop of Belo Horizonte and President of the CNBB, Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo. At 3:00 p.m., the second celebration will be presided over by the Auxiliary Bishop of Belo Horizonte and President of the Episcopal Communication Commission of the CNBB. At the end of the celebration, a letter from the organizing bodies of the Communication Week will be distributed.
Pascom Brazil has developed the aid "Listening with the ear of the heart" subsidy in preparation for the Social Communications Day to help workers deepen the reflections proposed by Pope Francis on the theme chosen this year. Pascom Brasil invites each pastoral reality (community, parish, diocesan and regional) to use the material in the best possible way, promoting face-to-face or online meetings. Among the novelties of the subsidy there are supporting texts on the subject of listening and synodality, indications for meetings and suggestions for books and films on the subject.
