Rome (Agenzia Fides) - Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, May 3, 2022 and Wednesday, May 4, 2022, the provincial coordinators of missions ad gentes of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians will meet online to take stock of the situation of the presence of the Institute in the 5 Continents. Anna Maria Geuna, collaborator of the General Sector of the FMA Missions, explains to Agenzia Fides: "The meeting will follow different times for each continent. On May 3, in the morning, the coordinators of the Asia and the South Pacific region will be present, and in the afternoon, the sisters of the African continent. On May 4 in the afternoon the meetings will continue for Europe and the evening for America.
This meeting - continues Sister Geuna - follows another held in recent months, also online, among some 250 FMA missionaries ad gentes.
"There are currently more than 500 worldwide. On this occasion we had the opportunity to meet, get to know each other, welcome Sister Ruth del Pilar Mora who was elected, during the XXIV General Chapter, General Councilor for the Missions of the Institute, and create a synodal synergy to live the mission ad gentes with renewed passion. As Sister Geuna explains, the coordinator of the mission ad gentes within the province can be an FMA or a lay person involved in the missionary field. It is a presence that within the different provinces must encourage and stimulate the missionary dimension with attention to interreligious dialogue -intercultural and ecumenical - to the different educational communities and at the same time must be in a network with the missionary organizations existing in the territory, in the diocese or nation.
The missionary passion, together with the evangelizing concern of Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello, are fundamental dimensions of the charism of the FMA Institute that, since the foundation of the Institute in 1872, whose 150th anniversary is celebrated this year, is an uninterrupted succession of thousands of extraordinary stories of charity, written with life in unknown and distant places.
