AFRICA/D.R. CONGO - Appointment of the Bishop of Matadi

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On April 23, 2022 the Holy Father appointed Rev. André Giraud Pindi Mwanza, of the clergy of Matadi, currently Apostolic Administrator of the same Diocese, as Bishop of Matadi (Democratic Republic of Congo).
His Exc. Mgr. André Giraud Pindi Mwanza was born on July 24, 1964 in Kindomingielo, Diocese of Matadi and entered the Minor Seminary of Kibula (1976-1984) and completed his studies in Philosophy at the Major Seminary of Mayidi (1984-1988) and of Theology at the Saint Jean XXIII Major Seminary in Kinshasa (1988-1993). He was ordained a priest on September 18, 1994.
Since his priestly ordination he has held the following positions: Licentiate in Canon Law at the Catholic University of Congo in Kinshasa (1994-1997); Parish Vicar of Notre Dame de la Sagesse in Kinshasa; Lecturer in Law at the Interdiocesan Major Seminary of Mayidi (1997-2002); Doctorate in Utroque Iure at the Pontifical Lateran University (2002-2006); Fidei donum and parish priest in solidum in the pastoral unit Notre Dame de Compassion (2006-2013) and Defender of the Bond in the Diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Friborg (2006-2019); Moderator and Dean of the Pastoral Unit of Nyon-Terre Sainte, Diocese of Lausanne (2013-2019); Vicar General of the Diocese of Matadi (2019-2021) and since 2021 Apostolic Administrator Sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis of the same See.
