Abidjan (Agenzia Fides) - ICMA, the Catholic Missionary Institute of Abidjan, was consecrated to Mary Our Lady of Evangelization last March 19 on the feast of St. Joseph. The rite at the end of the Holy Mass which concluded the fourth edition of the socio-cultural days dedicated this year to the binomial protection of the environment and human health, was presided by His Exc. Msgr. Boniface Ziri, bishop of the diocese of Abengouro. In his speech, Msgr. Ziri urged this Institute, as well as research centers and Catholic universities, to "go beyond the ideological level of things to grasp them in their deepest authenticity".
"First of all, we want the Virgin Mary to ensure protection for us, then to help us become like her, who knew how to welcome the Good News", explains the rector of ICMA Father Nicodème Kolani who continues: "This consecration is an invitation to students to make their Institute a place of reception and welcome for the Good News, in order "to be able to go and give birth to it in the world through the proclamation and their witness of life".
ICMA, the Catholic Missionary Institute of Abidjan, in the city of Abobo, was founded in September 2004 and welcomes 236 students from 29 religious Congregations from 19 countries in the current academic year. The Institute aims to be a place of formation for witnesses to the Gospel committed to the renewal of the African continent and offers a philosophical and theological formation rooted in the doctrine of the Church.
