Singapore (Fides Service) - The 3rd Global Congress Evangelisation and Pastoral for overseas Chinese Catholics will be held in Singapore 17 to 21 November on a theme still to be chosen. The organising committee has invited all overseas Chinese Catholics, bishops, priests, lay people to take an active part in discussion on evangelisation and pastoral; to share personal or community faith experience and discuss how to improve the structure of communities of overseas Chinese Catholics in view of better spiritual care and stronger missionary impulse.
The first two Congresses were held in Rome in 2000 and in San Francisco USA in 2003. The first Congress in Rome 27 September 3 October 2000, which coincided with the canonisation of the Chinese martyrs, brought together 117 congress participants, cardinals bishops, clergy and laity to discuss the theme “Walking together in the Chinese Culture towards Christ”. Besides sharing their experience of Christian life and discussing main points for the development of overseas Chinese Catholics, the participants had the great joy of being present at the Mass for the Canonisation of the Chinese Martyrs.
