Tuesday, 1 March 2022

Kasama (Agenzia Fides) - "The season of Lent is a special moment to reach out to the most vulnerable, to the sick, to prisoners, to orphans and to all those in need", declared Msgr. Ignatius Chama, Metropolitan Archbishop of Kasam. The archbishop, who is also president of the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB), has reminded Christians to intensify prayer, practice forgiveness and fasting during the Lenten period that the Catholic Church begins to celebrate starting on Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
"The Gospel passage that will be read on Ash Wednesday outlines what every Christian should do as they embark on the journey of Lent", explained Archbishop Chama, who also confirmed the Lenten Fund created by the Catholic Church in Zambia to help people in need during natural calamities such as floods or the recent storm Ana, which has caused great damage in the country.
"Be ready to offer your contribution to the Fund every Sunday during the season of Lent", said the Archbishop. (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 1/3/2022)
