AFRICA/UGANDA - Appeal of the Bishop of Kasese: Love for enemies, forgiveness and reconciliation among Christians

Monday, 28 February 2022 reconciliation   peace

Kasese (Agenzia Fides) - "Judgment is only in the hands of God, forgiveness, reconciliation and entrusting the enemies to the Holy Throne is what the Creator wants Christians to do", said the Ordinary of the Diocese of Kasese, Msgr. Francis Aquirinus Kibira Kambale, addressing his people.
In the Cathedral of Our Lady of Assumption, in Kasese, Bishop Kibira reminded Christians of their role as men of mercy and the protection of those they call enemies. He urged the faithful to guide and help in the light of Christ those who are in sin rather than judging them. He also reminded them to be ready for persecution in the name of Christ and warned them against revenge.
"Being champions of peace, unity and reconciliation, as well as spreading love and praying for enemies - echoed Augustine Sunday Masereka, director of Kasese Guide Radio.
Forgiveness liberates but hate scars the soul and distorts the personality", he said, encouraging believers never to humiliate the enemy but to win their friendship. Fr. Masereka warned Catholics against pride and selfishness and asked them to do everything possible to fulfill their main mission, namely the salvation of souls. (AP) (Agenzia Fides, 28/2/2022)
