AFRICA/GABON - Resignation of the Apostolic Vicar of Makokou and appointment of successor

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On January 6, 2022, the Holy Father, accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the Apostolic Vicariate of Makokou (Gabon), presented by His Exc. Mgr. Joseph Koerber, C.S.Sp .. The Holy Father has appointed Fr. Severin Nziengui Mangandza, C.S.Sp., currently Provincial Superior of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, as Vicar Apostolic of the same Vicariate.
Mgr.Severin Nziengui Mangandza, C.S.Sp., was born on February 21, 1970 in Libreville. He received his Baccalaureate (1995-1996) and entered the Congregation of the Holy Spirit. From 1996 to 1999 he studied philosophy, obtaining a licentiate at the Université Omar Bongo in Libreville and from 1999 to 2000 he carried out the postulancy in Otélé in Cameroon.
From 2000 to 2003 he studied Philosophy at the Séminaire Spiritain Daniel Brottier in Libreville; he attended the novitiate in Mbalmayo (2003-2004) and obtained a licentiate in Dogmatic Theology at the Université Catholique d 'Afrique Centrale in Yaoundé (2004-2007). On July 12, 2008 he was ordained a priest.
Since his ordination he has carried out the following offices and studies: Parish Vicar at Saint Kisito in Makélékélé, Congo Brazzaville (2008-2011); Studies at the Institut Catholique de Paris (2011-2012); Novice Master in Mbalmayo, Cameroon (2012-2014); Director of Studies and Bursar of the Séminaire Spiritain Daniel Brottier in Libreville (2014-2016). Since 2016 up to now he has been Provincial Superior of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit C.S.Sp., in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 7/1/2022)
