AFRICA/UGANDA - Bishop Kibira: "The future of the country depends on education"

Kampala (Agenzia Fides) - The future of the Church depends to a large extent on education, emphasized Mgr. Francis Aquirinus Kibira, Bishop of the Catholic diocese of Kasese, on the occasion of the perpetual profession of Sister Evelyn Kamuli of the Oblate Sisters of the Assumption, which was celebrated in the village of Kihyo. The bishop urged those present, parents and guardians, to "give priority to education, as it was the basis for the future development of their children and thus of the country". At the same time, Bishop Kibira thanked the sisters for their commitment in the field of education in the district of Kasese. "If you encourage your children to take part in the initiatives of the local Catholic Church, the future of the Church and Ugandan society is assured", concluded the Bishop of Kasese.
The sisters also sponsor the “Emmanuel D'Alzon Lavagnace Complex High School”, with which the women religious want to improve the quality of education in the Buhuira district.
