VATICAN - Pray, meditate and know a little more with Pauline Jaricot

Tuesday, 5 October 2021 pontifical mission societies   evangelization   prayer

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - "Know a little more about Pauline Jaricot and meditate on the mission of the Church": this is the guiding principle of the analysis offered by the website of the Pontifical Mission Societies (www.ppoomm.va), dedicated to the figure of venerable Pauline Jaricot, in view of the beatification scheduled for next May 22, 2022 in Lyon (see Fides, 4/10/2021). The in-depth texts, published daily and made available by the National Direction of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in France, take the reader by the hand day after day and lead them to discover the figure of this lay missionary.
It goes from the biographical profile (following the chronological order of Pauline's life), where the human side is outlined as well as her spiritual stature and above all her intuitions. Both the Living Missionary Rosary that she came up with and the institution of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, represent very important chapters.
Pray, meditate and know a little more: is the purpose of the various initiatives prepared by the International Secretariats of the PMS to help the faithful around the world to celebrate the Missionary Month of October, 2021. The website of the Pontifical Mission Societies is a platform where you can take advantage of these materials as Archbishop Giampietro Dal Toso, President of the Pontifical Mission Societies and Assistant Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, explained in a statement sent to the National Directors of the PMS.
In particular, the sections where it will be possible to access these precious contributions will be that of "news" and that dedicated to the "Pontifical Missionary Union".
The "news" section will host a daily meditation on the biblical readings of the Eucharistic celebration for the month of October 2021, prepared by the community of Trappist nuns of Vitorchiano (Italy), on the recommendation of the Pontifical Missionary Union.
In this way it will be possible not only to immediately access the readings scheduled for the day, but also to have a comment, accompanied by biblical, theological and spiritual insights placed in the context of ordinary life.
Another opportunity: during the Missionary Month a document prepared on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of its founder, Blessed Paolo Manna, will be available in the area of the site dedicated to the Pontifical Missionary Union.
The text born from the collaboration with the Direction of Poland and edited by the PUM, is divided into three parts: one for priests, one for consecrated persons and one for the laity.
The document contains some readings from Church documents and the writings of Blessed Father Paolo Manna, which are followed by ideas for individual reflection aimed at deepening one's missionary dimension and a concluding prayer. (EG) (Agenzia Fides, 5/10/2021)
