Wednesday, 29 March 2006

Vatican City (Fides Service) - The conclusions have been published of the plenary assembly of Pontifical Council for Culture held 27 and 28 March in the Vatican on “Beauty, path for evangelisation and dialogue”.
“Beauty is not only awe-inspiring it is mysterious. It is the fight between God and Satan; it is their battle field, it is the human heart”, says Cardinal Paul Poupard president of the Pontifical Council for Culture in the final statement.
He also said “after hearing the testimonals of participants from western Europe, Latin America, North America, Africa, Asia the cradle of culture and religions, and Oceania”, we can in conscience propose “beauty as a privileged path for evangelisation and dialogue.”
“The path pulchritudinis is a long tradition in the Church which today asks to be rediscovered, because it is often forgotten and at times even rejected because it is misunderstood.”
“Heir to the Secretariat for Non Believers is not the Pontifical Council for Culture, 35 years later, called to return to this challenge which has grown in our society, abetted by relativism and scepticism in disoriented and sort of ‘de-orbited’ cultures the spreading phenomenon of multiculturalism?”
