AFRICA/NIGERIA - Catholic priest kidnapped from a village in northern Nigeria

Abuja (Agenzia Fides) - Fr. Luka Benson Yakusak, parish priest of St. Matthew parish in Anchuna, in Ikulu Chiefdom, in the local government area of Zangon Kataf of the State of Kaduna, in northern Nigeria was kidnapped by armed men.
According to initial information, the priest was kidnapped last night, September 13, by armed men who broke in his residence and took him to an unknown destination. A witness reports that the armed men broke into the priest's residence around 7.30 pm. It seems that so far the kidnappers have not yet made any requests to his family, friends or the local Church. The place where Fr. Luka Benson Yakusak was kidnapped is the birthplace of Bishop Matthew Kukah, Bishop of Sokoto. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides, 14/9/2021)
