Abidjan (Agenzia Fides) - The Catholic youth of the diocese of Yopougon will meet from August 27 to 30 at the Saint Laurent parish of Yopougon Kouté to live its traditional annual activity, the Diocesan Youth Days (JDJ), with the participation of more than 3,000 young people. An activity that could not take place last year because of covid-19, but which aims to be a framework of aggregation around the Bishop, spiritual formation, meeting, fraternity and exchange. For this ninth edition, the chosen theme is: "Lord Jesus, truly present in the tabernacle, help me to worship you more often". "The JDJ allow young people to come together to rejoice in the Lord", declared Father Franck Hermann Soko, diocesan chaplain for youth ministry in Yopougon. Listing the activities at the heart of this meeting, he explained the interest of each of them "we have traditional activities like the Miss Virgin contest which is in fact, the Miss Esther contest to highlight virginity which is a value of the Church and of society. There is also the religious choreography, we dance while transmitting and proposing a message, we have the biblical competition to awaken the practice of the Bible and also to allow all the young people present to memorize biblical knowledge", he explained.
