Saturday, 25 March 2006

Buenos Aires (Fides Service) - At a time when “the most fundamental right, the right to exist, is violated with impunity, we pray Argentineans may have the courage to defend the life of the unborn child from all the different trends so as not to feel remorse for innocent bloodshed” said the Family Commission of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Argentina in a statement issued for the Latin American Day for the Unborn Child, today 25 March, feast of the Annunciation.
In the statement the Family Commission expresses full support for the annual event “which serves to reflect on great value of life in all its stages, and for all the many initiatives launched in different countries to promote awareness that life from the moment of conception to natural end must be regarded as human heritage”.
The Day for the Unborn Child has been celebrated in Argentina since 1999 by an increasing number of organisations and communities. Initiatives organised for the recurrence include: pro-life prayer meetings, recitation of the Rosary with Pro-life intention in Buenos Aires, San Isidro and San Nicolás; Pro-Life March at Cordova, and a Pro-Life bicycle ride in La Plata; a special mass and blessing for families at Quilmes cathedral; at Río Cuarto Pro-Life prayer of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Processions 25 and 26 March.
