EUROPE/MONACO - Appointment of the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Sr. Jeannette M. Elisabeth Toutiane Bassene, FSC

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On June 15, 2021 Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Rev. by Sister Jeannette Marie Elisabeth Toutiane Bassene, of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Mary, FSC As National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in the Principality of Monaco for a five-year period (2021-2026).
The new National Director was born on September 16, 1977 in Senegal. She entered the Congregation of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Mary, FSC, made her first vows in 2005 and perpetual vows in 2013. After obtaining a Licentiate in Senegal from the Institute of Information and Communication Sciences, she obtained a Master in Communication at the Sophia Antikpolis University of Nice (France). She was part of the team responsible for the chaplaincy of Catholic students in Nice and participated in various youth ministry activities. In September 2015, at the request of the Bishop of Nice, she founded an FSC community in this diocese. In September 2018 she was assigned to the Principality of Monaco. In 2021 she obtained a doctorate in information and communication sciences at the University of Toulon. The community of Monaco is entrusted with the chaplaincy of the "Princess Grace" hospital. Her mission is to listen to patients, their families, health personnel, with whom she collaborates for a better care of the sick, the elderly and the disabled. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 14/7/2021)
