Abidjan (Agenzia Fides) - "It is impossible for us to remain silent about what we have seen and heard": the 80th National Council of the Pontifical Mission Societies of the Coast opened yesterday, June 15, around the theme of the Missionary Month of October 2021 of Ivory Coast, in the presence of His Exc. Mgr. Raymond Ahoua, Bishop of Grand-Bassam and His Exc. Mgr. Marcelin Yao Kouadio, Bishop of Daloa, President of the Episcopal Commission for Missions of the Bishops' Conference of the Ivory Coast . "After 125 years of evangelization, the theme of the National Council is suggestive and challenges us all about our way of announcing Christ today not only in words but above all in deeds; "It is impossible for us to remain silent about what we have seen and heard. We are invited to feel an active part of this mission", underlined the delegate of the host diocese, Fr. Sylvain Boko. Fr. Jean Noel Gossou, National Director of the PMS of Ivory Coast, declared that "the task of the PMS is great, the mission is to witness, announce, live and to bring to life what we have seen and heard and therefore when the Pope proposes this theme for the next Missionary Day, the Holy Father invites us to reflect on our missionary nature and to assume this responsibility".
Mgr. Kouadio, in his speech, recalled the mission of the PMS by exhorting the participants to instill in the faithful the missionary spirit. For a better understanding of this theme, he divided it into three phases: apostolic; missionary of yesterday; missionary today. (S.S.) (Agenzia Fides, 16/6/2021)
