Tombura Yambio (Agenzia Fides) - The Bishop of the diocese of Tombura Yambio, Mgr. Barani Eduardo Hiiboro, inaugurated the Agricultural Training Center, and sat behind the wheel of a tractor on the farm in the parish of Mupoi.
As Bishop Hiiboro emphasized on the occasion, the agricultural school of the diocese is used to impart knowledge and skills to people from the diocese and the entire state of West Equatoria with regard to high quality agricultural products both for their own use and for trade . The first to benefit are the 23 seminarians who take part in the orientation program in Mupoi, which is ultimately intended for all citizens.
After blessing the agricultural land, the Bishop of Tombura Yambio urged the administration staff of the center to officially begin training and, from now on, to instruct the seminarians as part of their initial training in agricultural training at the center. The state of Western Equatoria, in which the diocese of Tombura-Yambio is located, is also known as the "breadbasket" of South Sudan because of the rains and the fertile land.
Mupoi is the community where the first missionaries settled who brought the Catholic faith to Western Equatoria in 1912. As a result, the first educational institutions were established in Mupoi, where many of the state's intellectuals were trained. (EH/AP) (Agenzia Fides, 9/6/2021)
