La Serena (Agenzia Fides) - Within the framework of the World Day of Social Communications, the pastoral agents who regularly collaborate in the dissemination of the activities of their communities in the Archdiocese of La Serena, participated in the workshop “Live broadcasts”, organized by the Pastoral Commission of Social Communications. Connected by mobile phone, computer or tablet, the pastoral collaborators of the Archdiocese met on May 18 in this formation event. According to the information released by the Archdiocese, the day began with a video greeting from Archbishop René Rebolledo Salinas, who also sent a letter to social and parish communicators for the occasion, along with the message that Pope Francis wrote for this Day. The training was given by Luis Aliaga Álvarez, a graduate in social communication, and collaborator for the broadcasting of celebrations on special occasions from the Cathedral. "The contents we examined - he said - are focused so that they can be transmitted with the minimum resources available, at no additional cost, that is, with a mobile phone or a computer, and using social networks, as in the case of Facebook. The goal is that the transmission is optimal, using the free tools that are offered to us, and that the viewer receives a good quality image". Fabián Martínez, Director of the Communication Department of the Archbishopric of La Serena, expressed his appreciation for the interest in deepening this way of evangelizing, urging them to continue to know and use these tools that technology offers. "At the end of 2017 we started with the first attempts at live broadcasts of exceptional activities or Masses, which were very traditional - he recalled -. At the beginning of 2019 Luis Aliaga offered us his collaboration to improve quality, which was very beneficial for people who, for various reasons, could not attend in person. This situation allowed us to be better prepared to face the context of the pandemic, so the goal we set ourselves was to transfer this knowledge to parish communicators, which translates into a contribution for the respective parishes and chapels". He also announced for June a new workshop on the good use of social networks for evangelization. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 20/5/2021)
