Tuesday, 21 March 2006

Sydney (Fides Service) - A Lenten Reflection based on Pope Benedict XVI Message for Lent; anti-AIDS awareness campaign in Australia and Catholic involvement; in memory of Archbishop Oscar Romero, martyred in Salvador in 1980; a commentary on a new translation of the Bible with language close to Australian culture, these are some of the contents in the March 21 issue of Mission & Spirituality Newsletter only on the web launched a few months ago by the Catholic Church in Australia.
Internet is increasingly a field for evangelisation and the Church in Australia is striving to put into practice guidelines and advice given by the Holy See which has repeatedly urged Catholics to take the opportunities for spreading the Gospel offered by the new means of communications. Mission & Spirituality Newsletter was born in this spirit to encourage, offer information and resources to the Catholics communities all over this vast nation and to help them connect and share. The newsletter focuses mainly on the laity and the contribution they can make in new evangelisation in Australia.
One of the promoters of the initiative is Church Resources network which made the necessary technical resources available. (Agenzia Fides 21/3/2006 righe 23 parole 231)
