AFRICA/MOZAMBIQUE - Appointment of the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Fr. Jorge Joaquim Pinho

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 28 January 2021, Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Fr. Jorge Joaquim Pinho, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Beira as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Mozambique for a five-year period (2021 -2026).
The new National Director was born on 25 August 1972 and has been a priest for 16 years. He obtained a licentiate in philosophy in Maputo, a masters in management and administration of schools in Beira and a masters in pastoral theology in Salamanca. He was a professor at the preparatory Seminary and at the University of Beira, parish priest in two parishes. For a year he was Director of the PMS in his archdiocese.
