ASIA/KOREA - Resignation and appointment of military ordinary for Korea

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the Military Ordinariate for Korea, presented by Bishop Francis Xavier You Soo-il, O.F.M.
The Holy Father has appointed as military ordinary for Korea the Reverend Titus Seo Sang-Bum of the clergy of Seoul, until now parish priest of the Daechi-dong parish in the same metropolitan archdiocese.
Msgr. Titus Seo Sang-Bum was born on 6 February 1961 in Seoul. After completing his studies in the major seminary of Sungshin, in the metropolitan archdiocese of Seoul, he carried out his philosophical and theological formation at the Archdiocesan Major Seminary of Seoul (The Catholic University of Korea), obtaining a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in theology. He also attended an intensive course in English in Australia (2017-2018).
He received priestly ordination on 12 February 1988 for the metropolitan archdiocese of Seoul.
Since ordination, he has held the following offices: parish vicar of Amsa-dong (1988-1991); parish vicar of Hangang (1991-1992); representative of the diocesan Synod of Seoul (1991-2005); military chaplain, discharged with the rank of Colonel (1992-2013); member of the presbyteral council of Seoul (2005-2013); vicar general of the Military Ordinariate (2013-2017); and member of the Commission for staff of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Seoul (2015-2017).
