AFRICA/IVORY COAST - Launch of the “Missionaries and Saint Joseph” Foundation in favor of greater devotion in the country towards the Patron of the Universal Church

Abidjan (Agenzia Fides) - On 8 December 2020, on the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, Pope Francis dedicated an entire year to Saint Joseph to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. To mark this special year with a milestone, the prayer group "Friends of Saint Joseph of Ivory Coast" intends to give life to a project, the Foundation "The Missionaries of Saint Joseph" of Ivory Coast (FMSJ- CI).
The purpose of the Foundation, whose headquarters are in the parish of Saint Jacques, in the archdiocese of Abidjan, is to: create and manage a database relating to the skills of all the Friends of Saint Joseph of Ivory Coast; build spirituality centers; help the poor and vulnerable people, carry out charitable actions; set up special funds with financial institutions for programs designed to promote and support the foundation's objectives. The statute and internal regulations of the foundation "The missionaries of St. Joseph" of Ivory Coast were presented on Saturday 30 January. During this meeting, the management bodies of the foundation were also established and Attorney Boli Zouckou Léa was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors for a 6-year term renewable once.
"The foundation of the missionaries of St. Joseph has the objective to make known to all, the devotion to Saint Joseph especially in this year consecrated to Saint Joseph and through this foundation today, after 21 years of existence we want to return in action and it is together that we will ensure that this foundation takes shape", said the President of the board of directors.
