VATICAN - "The mission of the Church: missionary charity and fundraising": webinar of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Spanish

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The webinar "The mission of the Church: missionary charity and fundraising", organized by the Pontifical Missionary Union (PUM) and by the International Center for Missionary Animation (CIAM), in collaboration with the National Direction of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Spain, takes place from February 2-4, and will be held exclusively in Spanish and will use the Zoom Internet platform, providing for two training sessions each day followed by debates. Aimed at the staff and collaborators of the National Directions of Pontifical Mission Societies from all over the world, the course sees the participation of 97 people, religious, priests and lay people from 18 countries, mostly Spanish speakers. The General Secretaries of the Pontifical Mission Societies also take part in the meeting in question, while moderation is entrusted to the National Direction of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Spain.
After an introduction by Archbishop Giampietro Dal Toso, President of the PMS, the works are opened by Father Javier Alexis Delgado, priest of the diocese of Garzón (Colombia) and National Director of the PMS in Colombia, who will deal with the theme "Contextualizing the mission of the Church: communication and missionary charity".
This will be followed by the speech of Juan Uribe, President of the Instituto de Fundraising Católico in Madrid. Higher studies in finance, law and fundraising, Uribe - who in his professional career has tried to apply the experience of marketing to the complex world of fundraising, operating for over 20 years with entities linked to the Catholic Church - will speak on "Catholic fundraising: a new challenge for the Church".
Fr. Cristian Mendoza Ovando, a priest incardinated in the Prelature of Opus Dei, and associate professor of Social Doctrine at the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, will outline the theme "Fundamental elements for fundraising", drawing on his experience in the CASE research project, Stewardship, administration and financial support of the Church.
The last report will be that of Calos Luna Calvo, university professor, strategic creative director of the PuedesMásMarketing Agency and director of the international religious marketing congress REinspira. Dominican layman, entrepreneur and passionate about creativity and religious marketing, Calvo will speak on "Religious marketing and fundraising: keys for effective communication".
At the end of the webinar, the story of the experience of the special collection carried out by the PMS in Spain on the occasion of World Missionary Day is planned, while the conclusions will be entrusted to Fr. Fabrizio Meroni, PIME, Secretary General of PUM and Director of the CIAM. (Agenzia Fides, 2/2/2020)
