Tombura Yambio (Agenzia Fides) - On January 10, on the occasion of the feast of the Baptism of the Lord, 150 faithful from the Parish of Saint Mary Mother of God of Yambio received the sacrament of confirmation. The Bishop of the diocese of Tombura Yambio, His Exc. Bishop Eduard Hijboro, invited them in this context to be great ambassadors of Christ in that, in the sacrament of Confirmation, they received the strength of the Holy Spirit which enables them to bear the truth and to be members of the entire community".
The occasion also brought to mind the tenth anniversary of the referendum for independence from Sudan.
"At the beginning of this new year, the main goal of all South Sudanese is to produce prosperity in every area of our life, spiritual, social and environmental", said the Bishop addressing the entire community and the country’s politicians. He urged those who have been given the opportunity to serve the nation in various capacities to be aware of the needs of the country in order to enable the people to live in peace and harmony.
In his message, Bishop Hijboro invited the political world in its different factions present in the country to "put aside their political agenda and work together to make South Sudan a peaceful nation, which the population longs for".
"It is deplorable to see political leaders divided because the negative implications have an equally negative impact on innocent civilians. When you politicians are united for the common interest of the citizens of this country, everyone is happier. The Church rejoices in seeing you practice unity in diversity", concluded the Bishop.
