Santiago (Agenzia Fides) - The "Bible of the Church in America", a project of the Latin American Episcopal Council (CELAM) which took on the task of carrying out a translation of the Holy Scriptures into a contemporary language of the Spanish-speaking believers in America can now be bought by everyone. As reported by the Chilean Bishops' Conference, a team of 26 Latin American specialists - under the direction of the Chilean military bishop Santiago Silva Retamales, worked for 15 years on the translation of the Bible from the Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek original text. The "Bible of the Church in America" contains a number of pastoral and theological notes, introductions, glossaries, maps and other sources and is intended as a tool for evangelization and catechesis in Christian communities and for biblical formation and "Lectio Divina". Different formats have been created for different pastoral needs. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 23/1/2021)
