AFRICA/CONGO - Appointment of the Rector of the "Card. Emile Biayenda" Theological Seminary in the Archdiocese of Brazzaville

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 3 September 2020, Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Fr. Barthel Christel Ganao, of the diocesan clergy of Gamboma (Congo) as Rector of the "Card. Emile Biayenda" interdiocesan Theological Seminary located in the Archdiocese of Brazzaville (Congo).
The new Rector is 48 years old and was ordained a priest 15 years ago. He studied at the national major Seminary. He holds a licentiate in economics and business organization, a Master in moral theology in Paris and a Doctorate at the Alphonsianum in Rome. He also studied spirituality in Montreal and at the Saint Cyprien seminary in Toulouse (France). After returning home in 2014, he held the following positions: Teacher of moral theology at the major seminary of Brazzaville, Director of the seminary library, Episcopal vicar of seminarians and permanent formation in the diocese of Gambona, Secretary of the Commission for the doctrine of Episcopal Conference.
