AFRICA/SIERRA LEONE - Appointment of the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 15 October 2020, Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Fr. Louis Koroma, of the diocesan clergy of Makeni as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Sierra Leone for a five-year period (2020-2025).
The new National Director is 56 years old and has been a priest for 25 for the diocese of Makeni. After his ordination, he was assistant parish priest and parish priest in Port Loko (1994-2002); Secretary General of the Inter territorial Episcopal Conference and National Director of the PMS (1998/2001); parish priest in Lunsar (2001/2002). From 2002 to 2005 he studied at the Pontifical Urbaniana University earning a licentiate in Missiology with specialization in Missionary Pastoral care.
When he went back to Sierra Leone, he was a member of the Presbyteral Council (2006/2009), parish priest in Masiaka (2007/2009), parish priest in Binkolo (2009/2011), parish priest in Port Loko (2012/2017), member of the college of consultors (2016/2017).
He was also a teacher and staff member of the St. Paul Major Seminary (2005/2006 and 2007/2012). (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 14/1/2021)
