AFRICA/CENTRAL AFRICAN REP. - Appointment of the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 1 October 2020, Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Father Claude Bernard Wakouzou, of the Comboni missionaries, MCCJ as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in the Central African Republic for a five-year period ( 2020-2025).
The new National Director was born in Alindao, Central Africa, on November 18, 1968 and was ordained a priest on July 22, 2001. He holds a Baccalaureate in Theology. His first missionary experience, from 2001 to 2009, was in Togo-Ghana-Benin as assistant parish priest; After the year of formation with the Comboni Missionaries (2009-2010) he was assistant parish priest from 2010 to 2017 and then parish priest in Boda, Diocese of Mbaiki (Central Africa).
Since 2017 he was responsible for the missionary animation of the Comboni Delegation in Central Africa in collaboration with the national direction of the PMS, of which he was national secretary. (SL) (Agenzia Fides, 12/1/2021)
