Friborg (Agenzia Fides) - The Auxiliary Bishop of Friborg, Mgr. Alain de Raemy, responsible for the youth ministry within the Swiss Bishops' Conference, sent a video message to the Star Singers, to encourage the children and their leaders to undertake their usual missionary action during Christmas period despite the pandemic. In his video message in German, French and Italian, the Bishop urges people to follow social distancing measures and underlines the importance of the action of the Star Singers for the projects supported.
"Life continues and you, Star Singers accompany this life with love", urges Mgr. Alain de Raemy, inviting them to find new ways to carry out their mission this year and to bless those affected by the pandemic. "The star of Bethlehem is the expression of this love and you must continue to sing under this star", says the Bishop, who also highlights the difficult context in which the children who benefit from the projects supported by the Star Singers find themselves and the importance of "continuing with this mission".
The concern to adapt the Star Singer's action to the context of the pandemic has been pursued for several months by the person in charge of Missionary Childhood, Nadia Brügger: "The group animators met via Zoom to make proposals compatible with the situation. We published a guide to promote the action of Star Singers during the coronavirus, as well as a plan B if door-to-door cannot be carried out. Finally, a virtual tour of the Star Singers has also been created that allows you to visit people via the internet".
"The action of the Star Singers brings joy and hope, it is particularly important this year - underlines Nadia Brügger in the note sent to Fides -. The children of the projects supported need the Star Singers more than ever". In fact, the Singers not only bring God's blessing to their local homes at Christmas time, but also collect donations in favor of aid projects for children supported by Missionary Childhood.
