Czestochowa (Agenzia Fides) - Every year, the Pontifical Missionary Union (PMU) in Poland organizes a national meeting of formation and missionary prayer at the Shrine of Czestochowa at the beginning of December in memory of Saint Francis Xavier, patron saint of the Missions. The meeting is divided into two parts: the first is for formation, and includes conferences on missionary themes by professors and witnesses of the mission; the second part is spiritual and includes a night of prayer and entrustment of all the missionaries throughout the world at the foot of the image depicting the Black Madonna.
This year, due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the meeting, held on December 5, took place online, according to information sent to Fides by the National Secretary of PUM, Fr. Luca Bovio. The conferences were broadcast on Jasna Góra radio and on the online channels of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS), while the prayer, reduced compared to the traditional program, was led by the National Director of the PMS, Mgr. Tomasz Atlas; by the National Secretary of PUM, Fr. Luca Bovio and the National Secretary of the Pontifical Society of St. Peter the Apostle and of the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith, Fr Maciej Bedzynski, representing all the participants who had the opportunity to join in the prayer through radio and television.
