San José (Fides Service) - Members of the Latin America Society of Catechists from eleven different countries recently gathered at Casa San Benito, inSanta Barbara Heredia, Costa Rica, for the Society’s 5th ordinary assembly.
The meeting had two parts: part one treated internal matters including revision of statutes and the general activity of the Society. Part two was devoted to reflection on three themes: catechesis for adults, catechetical pedagogy and formation of catechists. The meeting was also an opportunity to celebrate the Society’s 10th anniversary.
The opening Mass was presided by Bishop Guillermo Loría president of the national commission for catechesis.
The celebration of CELAM 5 in 2007 offers a rich series of themes for study, reflection on catechesis and the formation of catechists as a disciple and missionary of Christ sent to the people of Latin America as heralds of the message and person of Jesus Christ “our peoples in Him may have life”.
