Abidjan (Agenzia Fides) - "The Church exists to evangelize and this mission is of a Divine nature; By virtue of this precept, the whole Church in all its components, priests, men and women religious and lay faithful, are all engaged in the missionary field", emphasizes Mgr. Marcelin Yao Kouadio, Bishop of Daloa (Center-West of the Country), President of the Episcopal Commission for the Evangelization of Peoples, and responsible for the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in his message on the occasion of World Mission Sunday, which will be celebrated on Sunday 18 October.
"Mission does not concern only priests, men and women religious or Bishops, we must all be committed", emphasizes Mgr. Kouadio, who adds: "it is the Holy Spirit as protagonist of the mission, who sends us and who, strengthened by the Spirit of our baptism, our confirmation makes us all missionaries".
Mgr. Kouadio delivered his message on October 14, on the sidelines of the meeting with a delegation from the National Direction of the PMS, held at the diocesan reception center in Daloa.
During the visit, which focused on the presentation of the activity report of a year of exercise of the national Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies of Ivory Coast, Bishop Yao Kouadio congratulated and encouraged Father Jean Noël Gossou, Director national, and his team for the work done.
Referring to the difficulties identified by the National Director, there is the lack of knowledge of the PMS on behalf of the faithful, Mgr. Kouadio advised the National Direction of the PMS to further increase its awareness-raising and training actions, developing a communication plan with UFRACI, the fraternal union of the Ivorian clergy, the CEB, the basic ecclesial communities, and prayer groups.
