AFRICA/MOZAMBIQUE - Appointment of the Rector of the "St. Pius X" interdiocesan major Seminary of Maputo

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On 10 August 2020 Card. Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Fr.José Pinto Tene Rabiana, of the clergy of Maputo as Rector of the "St. Pius X" interdiocesan major theological Seminary in the archdiocese of Maputo in Mozambique.
The new Rector was born on November 8, 1973 in Cumbana, province of Inhambane, archdiocese of Maputo. He was ordained a priest on 2 December 2006. He attended the "Cristo Rei" preparatory Seminary in Maputo, studied philosophy at the "Santo Agostinho" Seminary in Matola and theology at the "St. Pius X" Seminary in Maputo. In 2013 he obtained a Licentiate in dogmatic Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University, in Rome, and in 2017 a doctorate in the same subject at the Pontifical Urbaniana University, also in Rome. Among the positions held: Prefect of Studies and then Rector at the "Cristo Rei" preparatory Seminary, Professor at the "Santo Agostinho" and "St. Pius X" Seminary, Pro-Vicar General and Director of the general secretariat for pastoral coordination of the Archdiocese of Maputo.
